Zattoo with new composition of the Board of Directors after Tamedia’s acquisition of a majority interest

Zurich, 21 May 2019 – Effective upon Tamedia’s acquisition of a majority interest in Zattoo, Samuel Hügli is taking over the position of Zattoo’s Chairman of the Board of Directors from Bea Knecht, the company’s founder. Samuel Hügli is a member of the Management Board and Head of Technology and Ventures of Tamedia. The Board will be further strengthened by the addition of Franz Bürgi. As Group CIO of Tamedia, he has been in charge of the technology business units Enterprise Infrastructure, Collaboration & Workplace, Publishing as well as Paid Media & Distribution since 2017. Franz Bürgi studied electrical engineering at ETH Zurich and holds an Executive MBA from the University of St. Gallen. Furthermore, Dr. Marcus Englert, a former member of the Board and Chief New Media Officer of ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG, will also join Zattoo’s Board of Directors. Marcus Englert has a doctorate in physics and an MBA from INSEAD Business School.

Other members of the Board include Bea Knecht, Johannes Braun and Dr. Markus Dennler. Adrian Bult has retired from Zattoo’s Board.

Zattoo is the clear market leader in supplying TV streaming services in Switzerland and Germany. In addition to its retail business, it is also a B2B service provider for cable television and IPTV. Zattoo’s sales rose by 30 percent last year. In April of this year, Tamedia acquired a majority interest in Zattoo.
