Zurich (14/09/2018) The Swiss telecommunications provider Salt is expanding its revolutionary IPTV solution with 4K / UHD content using ZATTOO's technical platform. ZATTOO will be the first platform operator to offer its B2B customers 4K / Ultra HD TV (live and non-live) as part of the service scope.
In the spring of 2018, Salt introduced a disruptive TV solution in Switzerland with Apple and ZATTOO. The main component of the TV product is the Apple TV 4K Box, which will be used with operator login for the first time outside the US and will be expanded to include 4K / UHD content next month.
ZATTOO operates the entire TV product for Salt as an end-to-end solution and also takes care of operating the entire TV platform, managing the Apple TV Box as well as continuing to develop the platform and all front-end applications.

ZATTOO is showcasing 4K / UHD at the IBC starting today at its own stand in Hall 14 / G.04 LIVE. With the launch of 4K for Salt, this expansion of the ZATTOO platform is also available to other B2B customers in order to continuously develop their TV service.
For 4K / UHD, ZATTOO is also using the HEVC / H.265 video codec. High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) is a standard for encoding video content and images. Areas of application include the transmission of ultra-high-definition television programs, consumer electronics (4K resolution Blu-ray Disc players, camcorders) or streaming services.
